The northbound State Highway 99 exit to Riego Road will be closed for about two months starting around 10 p.m. Friday, August 15 for construction.
Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour route through Howsley Road or use alternate routes during the closure, which is scheduled to continue through October 15.
After crews close the northbound off-ramp, motorists traveling on east Riego Road will start using the new overpass on-ramps to southbound and northbound Highway 99. Those traveling on west Riego Road will be detoured to Power Line Road and then Elverta Road to get onto Highway 99.
The overpass opening will enable crews to take the traffic lights at the Highway 99-Riego Road intersection out of service.
The ramp closure will allow construction crews to complete work on new ramps on the $31 million project constructing a full interchange at Highway 99 and Riego Road.
Unexpected weather or other events may prolong or cause the work to be rescheduled.
