Incumbents Lisa Kaplan and Teri Burns will serve another four years on the Natomas Unified school board, according to unofficial election results posted late Tuesday night.
Kaplan never lost her lead in the four-way race for two school board seats. With 47 of 50 precincts reporting, Kaplan had 3,243 votes or more than 35 percent of the electorate.
Burns remained in second throughout the night with 2,961 votes – or more than 32 percent – just before midnight.
Newcomers Jag Bains and Sachiko Konatsu never gained momentum while votes were being tallied. Bains had 1,850 and Konatsu 980 votes.

Incumbent Lisa Kaplan continues to hold the lead in a four-way race for two seats on the Natomas Unified school board.
With 39 of 50 precincts reporting, Kaplan maintained her place in first with 2,392 votes followed closely by incumbent Teri Burn with 2,199 votes.
Newcomers trailed the sitting board member with Jag Bains fetching 1,306 votes and Sachiko Konatsu with 714 votes.
At press time there were 3,066 under votes which means those who cast ballots voted for one or none of the candidates instead of two.

Incumbent Lisa Kaplan has taken a the lead in the four-way race for two seats on the Natomas Unified school board.
Kaplan held the lead with at 1,584 votes – or 36 percent – with 28 precincts out of 50 precincts reporting.
Kaplan works as an attorney practicing in the areas of K-12 education, school construction and funding, surplus property government and policy. She has served on the Natomas Unified school board since 2002 when she and incumbent Teri Burns ran unopposed.
More than 31,000 registered voters within the Natomas Unified School District’s boundaries could pick two candidates each for school board.
Currently vying for the second board seat is Burns with 1,484 votes – or 33 percent. Newcomer Jag Bains sits in third with and 835 votes and first-time candidate Sachiko Konatsu is in fourth with 451 votes.
Early returns reflect 1,915 under votes which occur when a voter does not cast the number of votes – in this case two – allotted to them.
The past two Natomas Unified school board races have been too close to call on Election Day.
