More than two dozen volunteers participated in a MLK Day of Service event at Regency Park in Natomas on Monday, Jan. 21 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“Twenty-five volunteers helped plant trees, weed pathways, prune bushes, picked up litter, and provided some much-needed TLC to growing trees at Regency Park,” said Elena Quintero, District 1 parks liaison.
Quintero also said that more than 100 people participated in a second MLK Day of Service event held the day before on Sunday, Jan. 20. That event saw community volunteers join Hands on Sacramento, the District 1 Parks Leadership Academy for Youth, the Rio Linda Key Club and local business Accenture to rake leaves, weed, prune trees and bushes and pick up litter at Swainson’s Hawk & Fisherman’s Lake.
