Today’s updated election results show little change in the 10-way race for three seats on the Natomas Unified school board.
But Sacramento County Voter Registration and Election officials said this afternoon it’s too soon to declare the three lead vote–getters the winners.
“There is not a large enough margin to safely call any contest at this time,” spokesman Brad Buyse said.
Updated ballot counts were posted online at 3:12 p.m. today, Nov. 9. Counting of vote-by-mail and provisional ballots continues said Buyse. The next updates are scheduled after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 and after 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
Today’s update shows incumbent Sue Heredia maintains her lead with 4,726 votes (15.60 percent), followed by Ryan Herche with 4,349 votes (14.35 percent) and Scott Dosick with 4,114 votes (13.58 percent). Candidate Karen Bernal holds at fourth with 3,817 votes (12.60 percent).
Incumbent Bruce Roberts trails Bernal by nearly 300 votes, followed by HK Allen, Vina Guzman, Briza Trujillo Cardenas, Michael Bedrosian and Josh Baker.
Voters were each allowed to pick three Natomas school board candidates on the ballot.
There have been 21,692 undervotes so far. An undervoteoccurs when the number of choices selected by a voter in a contest is less than the maximum number allowed for that contest or when no selection is made for a single choice contest.
Voting results to date only partially mirror those of an online field poll conducted by THE NATOMAS BUZZ leading up to Election Day which measured responses from an estimated 10 percent of the website’s readership.
That field poll showed Guzman leading the popular vote, followed by Dosick and then Herche. Incumbent Heredia ranked ninth.
