What are your favorite childhood memories of summertime? Trips to the beach? Splashing around at a pool? Maybe even going away for a week of camp?
Time and time again, we hear that field trips and camp are what our youth remember most and what make the biggest impact on them – emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Just last week, we said good-bye to a beloved GreenHouse family who moved back to Mexico. In a farewell letter to our staff and volunteers, this fourth and fifth grade brother and sister wrote:
“We will miss you all and the fun things we’ve done with the GreenHouse – going to the pool, the park, rollerskating. Those are the things we will never forget.”
These experiences are powerful in the lives of our youth, allowing them to see, learn, discover, and grow in the world outside of their neighborhood block.
