A new Vampire Penguin is slated for Natomas, sources confirmed this week.
The shaved-snow and desserts restaurant will be located in the Sacramento Gateway shopping center at 3620 North Freeway Boulevard, in Suite 300, two doors down from Beach Hut Deli. It is expected to open for business in January 2016.
Vampire Penguin serves Taiwanese shaved snow which is different from shaved ice.
The shavings are made from ice blocks flavored with fruit concentrates and non-dairy cream which are airy and melt in your mouth.
The first Vampire Penguin opened Halloween 2013 on Stockton Boulevard.

Today, the franchise chain boasts locations in Reno, Nevada as well as Berkeley, Davis, Elk Grove and Rocklin.
The store planned for Natomas will be the third in Sacramento (there’s also a location downtown on K Street). An opening date has not yet been announced.
