The Natomas High School varsity soccer team’s playoff season ended last night when the Nighthawks lost 2-1 in overtime to Liberty Ranch.
The Nighthawks go out as Golden Empire League 2015-16 league champions and the team also won high honors in all-league voting:
- Coach Geo Villalobos was honored as the GEL Coach of the Year.
- Ruben Mendoza was honored as the GEL Offensive MVP.
- Anthony Gonzalez was honored as the GEL Defensive MVP.
- Andres Munoz, Johnny Villareal, Ivan Jacobo, and Omar Heredia were named first team All-League.
- Edgardo Gutierrez and Andrew Enriquez were named honorable mention All-League.
Natomas High last won a soccer league title for the Tri-County Conference in 2010-11.
