Two Natomas Unified School District campuses were burglarized within two miles of each other over the weekend.
An estimated $6,000 worth of equipment was stolen, according to police Capt. Steve Oliveira.
Sacramento police were called to Inderkum High School, located at 2500 New Market Drive, at about 7:25 a.m. on Monday, July 21.
A groundskeeper at Inderkum discovered the break-in when he arrived at work on Monday. The lock on a storage container was cut, and power tools stolen, according to a school district spokesperson.
About three hours later, at about 10:48 a.m., police were also called to the Paso Verde Elementary School, located at 3800 Del Paso Road, on the report of a burglary.
A custodian at the school discovered there was a break-in at the campus when he showed up for work, according to the district spokesperson. A lock on a shed was cut and some audio equipment stolen, they said.
Police officers determined both burglaries occurred over the weekend. At press time, the value of the stolen items had not yet been determined.
Crime Scene Investigators responded to the school sites and processed the crime scenes at both. There is no surveillance video, Oliveira said.
On July 6, someone attempted to take a sports training tire from outside of Inderkum High but it was returned without incident, according to the school district representative.
Anyone with information about either burglary is asked to report it through WeTip at wetip.com or by calling 1-800-782-7463. A cash reward may be available if information provided leads to an arrest and conviction.
