What is being built at the corner of Club Center and Maybrook in Natomas Park?
From the Natomas-based organization’s website:
Imagine a special, magical place where children can escape the rigors of treatment, transplants and never-ending tests. Imagine a place where fear is replaced by hope. Imagine a place where dreams can be discovered and wishes become reality. Imagine “The Wishing Place.”
Our Chapter has a vision. It is for a building created especially for wish children. The vision begins the moment a child enters the front door. A “Galaxy of Stars” will shine above with stained-glass stars each carrying the name of a special wish child. The child will then proceed to “The Wishing Room” where wish decisions will be made. Once that one true wish has been selected, a magical key will open the door to “The Wishing Tower” where the dream begins.
When that wish has been voiced, our Wish Coordinator magicians will begin their work making the wish a reality. Soon a proclamation will be sent to announce that the wish is ready, and the wish child and family and friends will be invited to return to “The Wishing Place’s Celebration Hall” where the magic will be unveiled. And then before everyone leaves, a commemorative star will be raised for the wish child to give permanent recognition of the unique experience only a wish can bring.
So what is “The Wishing Place?” It will be a place like no other. It will be a gathering place where the power of a wish transcends the limitations of a life-threatening condition. It will be an inspiring place where special children and their families are enriched by the joys of love and laughter. And finally, “The Wishing Place” will give wishes a place to call home.
For more information on how you can help make “The Wishing Place” a reality, contact Melinda Carson at the chapter office.

Thanks for the info. I wondered about what was taking shape there.
Seems an odd spot (though I’m not sure why), but what do I know? :o)
More power to ’em.
Thank you for the information. It sounds like it is going to be a great addition to the neighborhood!
It does seem odd. However, this area was originally zoned for commerical or employment centers. They put in some housing (with virtually no front/backyards) and they school district owns the other vacant land nearby. That would be some type of office/school campus. It is nice that it is not going to high density housing! Trixie
