Demolition of the East Natomas Education Complex appears to be nearing completion in the Panhandle area near East Levee and W Elkhorn roads.

Work to tear down the Twin Rivers Unified School District’s unfinished middle and high school campus started about a month ago, according to residents in the Regency Park neighborhood which borders the Panhandle.

In July 2024, the school district issued a formal public works bid for the East Natomas Education Complex site demolition project and received four bids.

According to school board meeting documents, the demolition contract was awarded to the apparent low bidder, Creekside Commercial Builders, Inc., for the amount of $2.27 million.

“The district is working on plans for the site and will share more details when the plans are finalized,” wrote Twin Rivers Unified spokesperson Zenobia Gerald when asked by email what the district’s plans are for the defunct school site.

Construction on the planned 300,000 square-foot East Natomas Education Complex began in 2006 and was abandoned in 2008.
