THE NATOMAS BUZZ | @natomasbuzz
The community is invited to an open house to discuss the Truxel Bridge Concept & Feasibility Study on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
This event is a chance for attendees to learn more about the proposed multi-modal Truxel Bridge, which aims to connect north and south Natomas with downtown Sacramento via a new crossing over the lower American River.
The open house is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity, 400 Jibboom St. Parking is free.
City transportation officials will share the feasibility study, including preliminary engineering work, environmental considerations, and input gathered from the community.
The Truxel Bridge is intended to enhance connectivity across the American River, eliminating the barrier to connectivity between Natomas and downtown. The bridge is expected to be a safer, more efficient route for local residents, commuters, cyclists, and pedestrians as well as provide new transportation options that will reduce congestion on existing routes.
The feasibility study is funded by a Caltrans Sustainable Transportation Planning grant, in partnership with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments and supplemented with local funding from the Sacramento Regional Transit District.
In 2013, Sacramento City Council adopted the American River Crossings Alternatives Study, which identified Truxel Road as the preferred alignment for a new bridge.
Open house attendees are encouraged to RSVP online here.
