Seems like new businesses are always opening, but one thing I noticed recently while driving around North Natomas is all the empty retail where stores, banks, nail salons used to be!
We all the know the housing market is suffering and it looks like that is definitely trickling down to our neighborhood retailers. Makes me wonder how the big box stores are doing too.
The almost-empty parking lots and reduced hours have not gone unnoticed.
I’ve heard it said that the cost of retail space is much too high for what the market will bear. I would say the rent just exceeds the income and until the developers get that figured out we will continue to see more falling by the wayside. Plus, how many nail salons do we really need?
