Nearly 400 Twin Rivers parents, teachers, classified staff, principals, and district staff participated in a second Family Involvement Retreat for the year.
The twice-annual family involvement retreats are an integral part of the Twin Rivers School District efforts to improve area schools.
“We know that our staff can do a lot to help improve the learning environment and opportunities for our students,” Director of Family and Community Involvement Kate Bishop-Hazarian said.
Each school of the district’s 50 sites sent a mixed team to participate in the March 13 and 15 event which included a review of attendance, graduation, and other student trends, as well as a variety of breakout sessions. Topics such as preventing bullying, engaging more families, empowering youth to improve school climate, and how to create a “red carpet” school through excellent customer service were covered.
The school site teams also had time to talk with each other about their school initiatives and their goals for the year and how close they are to meeting them.
“We also know that we need families to step up and help us,”
