Coach Leads Winning Inderkum Team

The Inderkum High School varsity volleyball topped off an incredible season by winning the final playoff game. 

This year’s girls varsity volleyball team thank their coach, Stacy Williams, for their success out on the court.

“Ms. Williams is inspirational, motivational, and supportive,” said Chelsea Carbah, a junior. “She cares for all of her players and pushes us to do the best we can.”

The girls’ varsity volleyball season started with two losses, but the team followed up with a six-game winning streak. Their goal: To earn a league championship banner.

“They achieved that goal with hard work and trusting each other,” said Williams, who credits the team’s success to several returning players from last year.

The year was the school’s first volleyball league championship.

“Not only does (Ms. Williams) coach us, but she understands us and we know we can go to her for anything,” said Jaylene Mize, a junior.

Williams attended Merced Junior College and graduated from California State University, Hayward. She has worked as a teacher and coached athletics at Inderkum for eight years. Before that she worked at Benicia High School for nine years.

“Ms. Williams coached the team to a first round home playoff game. They played well against Ponderosa High School, but fell short in the end,” said Matt Hinton, also a coach at Inderkum.

At the end of the game, Hinton said both teams shared a ‘team dance’ lead by Inderkum senior players.
