More than six dozen parents and students attended Natomas Pacific Pathways Preparatory high school’s first art exhibit on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Work created in art class by students in grades 9th through 12th was showcased at the event. The exhibit featured several, creative styles and techniques including charcoal drawings, watercolor paintings and two-point perspectives learned during the elective course.
The exhibition was held at the NP3 campus on Del Paso Road.
“Starting the year off, I wasn’t the most amazing artist, but over the course of the class, I was surprised on how well I could really do,” said Kelsey Thweatt, a sophomore.
Thweatt said the class built up her confidence and recommends all students take the course in high school.
“Looking back at their first project and now seeing their Van Gogh interpretation painting, I am amazed,” said art teacher Heather Higgins.
Higgins said next term’s art students will also have a show of their own. That exhibit is tentatively planned for May 2012.
