Sacramento police detectives have confirmed a youth caught on video surveillance late last night at the Wal-mart store in Yuba City is missing Natomas teen Sergio Jimenez.
Jimenez’s family has confirmed the youth seen on the video is the missing teen, who appears to be in good health. The search for Jimenez has shifted to the Yuba City and Marysville area.
Jimenez was last seen a week ago, Nov. 2, on the Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep campus at 3700 Del Paso Road. He was reported missing when he did not ride the bus home from school that day.
Several hundred volunteers searched the agricultural fields, unfinished developments, drainage canals and roads in the area between the school and Jimenez’s home off San Juan Road. Yesterday, search and rescue workers continued searching drainage canals in the area, but did not find any clues to Jimenez’s whereabouts.
Police received a tip Jimenez was spotted at the Wal-mart store last night in Yuba City. Police chief Rick Braziel said this morning the store pulled surveillance video for detectives. Police have reportedly confirmed with family members a youth seen in the video is Jimenez.
A candlelight vigil planned for tonight at a park near Jimenez’s home has been called off.
