“Why is the lake so full?”

Stormwater Quality Improvement Program spokesperson Jessica Hess responds:

“The City is holding water in the basin.”

“To help keep odor issues to a minimum and create a healthy fish habitat in these hot temperatures, the City is collecting irrigation run-off in the basin. Once the water level reaches a comfortable level, we will flush it and bring it back down. This will keep the water temperature down and help increase the oxygen levels in the water.”

“I have been told to expect that levels will be headed down starting in the next day or so.”
