A former Inderkum High School honor student and star athlete is now a member of the National Collegiate Society for Scholars.
Rosa Franklin, 19, was inducted in the merit-based organization during a convocation ceremony last weekend at Arizona State Univeristy in Tempe, where she is a sophomore. The National Collegiate Society for Scholars is an honor society that engages high-achieving first- and second-year students in the top 20% of their class.
“She’s a wonderful young lady,” said proud mom Kim Franklin Norris, whose daughter was selected based on grades earned her freshman year in college.
Franklin graduated from Inderkum High School in 2010 where she was an honor student and MVP basketball player. Franklin Norris said her daughter opted not to accept an invitation to play college basketball so she could concentrate on her studies.
“We are all proud of Rosa and her achievement. She is an excellent reflection on her parents and the great Inderkum High School teachers who taught her,” principal George Tapanes said. “We hope this is only the beginning of many more outstanding achievements.”
Franklin is currently a sophomore at Arizona State University where she is studying biological science, animal physicology and behavior with plans to minor in kinesiology. She also plays ultimate Frisbee.
